What it does
Bajaj Finserv Limited is an Indian non banking financial services company headquartered in Pune, and it is best understood as a holding company for a group of financial businesses rather than as an operating lender. Its own description of the business covers lending, asset management, wealth management and insurance.[1] The lending itself is done by subsidiaries, above all by Bajaj Finance, and the insurance is done by two companies that were joint ventures with Allianz of Germany until the group bought the German partner out.[1]
The structure has four legs. The first is lending, through Bajaj Finance and its housing finance arm, which lends to consumers for durable goods, to small businesses and against property. The second is insurance, life and general, which became wholly owned by the group in 2026. The third is asset management, run through Bajaj Finserv Asset Management Company and its mutual fund, which began operating in 2023. The fourth is distribution and digital, covering the Bajaj Markets marketplace, a broking arm and a health platform. Alongside the financial businesses the company still runs a wind energy operation with 65.2 megawatts of installed capacity, a remnant of the businesses bundled into it at the demerger.[1]
The group reported revenue of 1,50,530 crore rupees for the year ended March 2026, total assets of 7,58,498 crore rupees and net worth of about 77,755 crore rupees.[1] A financial conglomerate's revenue is not comparable with an industrial company's turnover: it includes interest income from lending and premium income from insurance, so it partly measures the size of a balance sheet rather than the price of goods sold. The profit line is the more useful number, and the group reported a consolidated profit of 17,539 crore rupees for the year ended March 2025, a year in which it was buying out its insurance partner.[1]
What the company sells, in the end, is access to credit and protection to Indian households that the public sector banks serve imperfectly. Its distribution runs through branches, dealer relationships, the mobile application of Bajaj Finance and the customer base of the Bajaj group's other businesses, and it is that reach, more than any single product, that the group has been trying to convert into mutual fund and insurance sales.[1][13]
