Who Durnibar Saha is
Durnibar Saha is a playback singer from Kolkata, which in the Bengali market means something more specific than it does in Mumbai. A Bengali playback artist sings for films that are made on modest budgets, releases songs that double as promotional singles, and earns a large part of his income from live shows in Kolkata, in other Indian cities and abroad. Saha's career follows that pattern closely: television gave him the face, film songs gave him the credit, and stage work pays the bills.[1]
His repertoire is not built around one label or one composer. Bengali film music is fragmented between studios, and a singer of his generation tends to record a song for one film, an album track for another project and a music video for a third. That is why a search for his discography produces a scatter of film soundtracks, singles and independent videos rather than a neat list.[1]
He is a recognisable television face as well as a voice, which is unusual for a playback singer. The Sa Re Ga Ma Pa run gave him that, and the 2026 Bigg Boss Bangla season extended it to an audience that does not watch music shows. Variety India's contestant list describes him simply as a well known playback singer in Bengali films who has appeared on several music reality shows, which is the standard one-line description used by the industry.[3]
He is also, in the way that Bengali entertainment coverage works, a subject of personal interest. His two marriages, the trolling that followed the second, and his measured response to it have been reported at length. He has not turned that attention into a public persona, and his posts stay on work, releases and performances.[1]
Early life and how he trained
Saha grew up in Kolkata and is based there. By his own account his early training was self-taught: he listened to songs, recorded his own voice, played it back and corrected himself until he felt ready to sing in front of people.[1] That is a common route for singers outside the classical gharana system, and it produces a style that leans on imitation and ear rather than on notation.
Before music paid his bills he worked as a software programmer at the IT services company Cognizant, according to News18 Bangla, which describes him as having left a well paid engineering job to enter music full time.[5] That detail matters in a market where most playback singers come through formal training, a musical family or years on the reality show circuit. Saha came through a desk job, and the engineering background explains something about the way he talks about his craft: as a set of problems to be corrected rather than a gift to be protected.
His date of birth, his age, his school and his family are not in the public record. Bharat Fast states plainly that no credible source names his parents or siblings, and the entertainment directories leave those fields blank.[1] This page does the same rather than filling the gaps with the speculative dates that circulate on aggregator sites.
The absence is not unusual for a regional singer. Bengali playback artists of his generation rarely give the kind of personal interviews that produce a documented early life, and the press tends to cover their releases rather than their childhoods. What is known about his formation comes from his own brief comments about learning by recording himself.[1]
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and the breakthrough
Saha became a household name after appearing on Zee Bangla's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, where he finished as a finalist.[1] The show is the most important singing platform in Bengal and has launched most of the state's playback singers of the last two decades. Reaching the final is not the same as winning, but it is enough to make a singer bookable.
The exposure changed the kind of work he was offered. Before the show he was a Kolkata performer with a local reputation; afterwards he was a voice that television audiences could put to a face, which is what a music director needs when a song has to be promoted.[1]
He has appeared on other music reality shows since, according to Variety India's description of his television record.[3] That is the normal career arc for a contestant: the first show creates the name, and later appearances renew it at intervals.
Playback, live shows and the songs
After the show Saha moved into playback singing and live performance. His work runs across film songs, television appearances and stage shows, and he has performed at concerts in India and abroad.[1] Live work is the backbone of a Bengali singer's income, and it also builds the kind of audience loyalty that a film credit alone does not produce.
His recorded work includes the song Ke Kon Dese, performed with Arpita Deb, and a music video for the track Dishaheen.[1] He has also sung for the 2026 Bengali release Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat, which Variety India cites as the most recent film credit in its contestant profile.[3]
One of the more visible live outings was the album launch of Srijit Mukherji's Killbill Society, where he performed alongside Anupam Roy, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury and Ranajoy Bhattacharjee.[1] Sharing a stage with those names puts him in the top tier of Bengali film music performers, even if his own discography is smaller than theirs.
His releases usually come with a live or promotional performance attached, which is how the Bengali market works. A song that is not performed does not travel, and a singer who does not perform does not get the next song.
Bigg Boss Bangla Season 3
Bigg Boss Bangla returned in August 2026 after a gap of ten years, hosted by the former India captain Sourav Ganguly, with fifteen contestants drawn from acting, singing, sport and content creation.[1][3] Saha entered as an original contestant in Week 1, which meant he was in the house from the first episode rather than arriving as a wildcard later in the run.[1]
He was in the nomination mix for most of the early season, facing the public vote in Weeks 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.[1] In Week 2 he led his nomination group with 49.54 per cent of the vote, a share that would be strong for any contestant and is remarkable for a singer competing against actors with larger television audiences.[1] In Week 4 he was nominated alongside Rajveer Dey, Srijla Guha and Nandini Dutta.[1]
For a playback artist the show does something that a film song cannot: it makes him a personality. Viewers who could not name him now recognise his voice and his manner, and the nomination numbers suggest that the recognition converted into votes rather than mere familiarity.[1]
The season is also the reason search interest in him rose sharply in 2026, and why questions about his age and net worth, which have no public answers, started appearing in search results.[1]
The first marriage
Saha was earlier married to Meenakshi Mukherjee, whose surname some reports spell as Mukhopadhyay. The two are said to have begun dating around 2015, and their marriage was registered in 2017.[1] The Times of India reports that the registry wedding came first and a full ceremony followed in 2021, with a star studded reception.[2]
The marriage did not last. Trouble became public within a year of the ceremony, and reports at the time linked the separation to the presence of another woman in his life, which he strongly denied.[2] The couple parted ways in 2022.[1][2]
The dates in the record do not line up neatly. Bharat Fast says the split was public knowledge by 2022, the Times of India's March 2023 report places the separation in the previous year, and News18 Bangla says the divorce came in 2023, roughly two years after the wedding.[1][2][5] All three accounts describe a marriage that ended quickly, and none of them gives the date of a decree. The difference matters because the second wedding took place on 9 March 2023, which means the divorce and the remarriage may have been only weeks apart.
Anandabazar, in a later profile of Meenakshi Mukherjee, described her as having gone through a divorce from Saha, which is the clearest confirmation in the public record that the first marriage was legally dissolved rather than simply abandoned.[6] The report does not give a date.
The second marriage and the trolling
Saha married Mohor Sen on 9 March 2023 in a traditional ceremony in Kolkata, with Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta and a large part of the Bengali film industry in attendance.[1][2] Sen works as Prosenjit Chatterjee's personal manager, and the Times of India credits the actor with bringing the couple together.[2] Reports say the two had been dating since 2022.[1]
The wedding drew criticism online because it came soon after the end of his first marriage, and the trolling was severe enough that he responded publicly. In a post with a photograph of the couple he wrote that they would build their life together and that a few people with dark thoughts could keep their opinions to themselves.[2] Bharat Fast describes the response as measured, and it was: he did not escalate, and he did not apologise.[1]
The episode is the reason searches around his name mix his music with his personal life. It also explains why he has kept his account focused on work since then. His posts cover performances, release announcements and behind the scenes material rather than domestic life.[1]
The couple's son was born in February 2024, according to News18 Bangla, which describes the household as Saha with his wife and child.[5] Sangbad Pratidin reported that he spoke about his wife and son inside the Bigg Boss house.[4] The birth is the detail most often missing from profiles of him, several of which still state that no children have been confirmed.
There is a discrepancy in how his wife's name appears. The Times of India and Bharat Fast call her Mohor Sen, while Anandabazar referred to her as Oindrila Sen in a report on the couple.[1][2][6] Mohor appears to be the name she is known by in the industry and the one used by the family's coverage in Bengali media, and this page uses it while recording that the other name exists. She works as the personal manager of the actor Prosenjit Chatterjee.[2]
Life inside the Bigg Boss house
Saha's run on Bigg Boss Bangla 3 has been quieter than the show's usual template. News18 Bangla describes him as calm and soft spoken, playing the game with his head rather than with confrontations, and notes that he has taken the spotlight several times without raising his voice.[5] That is a plausible description of a singer in a house full of actors, and it fits the way he handled the trolling over his second marriage.
The season also produced a storyline he did not choose. Bengali outlets reported speculation about his equation with the contestant Srijla Guha, and News18 Bangla noted that the two had since kept their distance.[5] The speculation is gossip rather than fact, and neither of them has confirmed a relationship. It belongs in the record only because it explains a run of headlines, not because it is true.
He has also been on the receiving end of the host's criticism. In October 2026 the Hindustan Times's Bengali edition reported that Sourav Ganguly had criticised him inside the house and that a section of the audience had turned on the host over it.[7] That is the ordinary weather of a reality show, and it says more about the audience's investment in him than about his conduct.
What has not been confirmed
His date of birth is not public. Bharat Fast says so directly, and no interview, profile or directory supplies a year.[1] Any age given for him on an aggregator page is an inference, and the inferences do not agree with each other.
His height, weight and net worth are also unpublished. The net worth section of the profiles says only that directory listings record it as unknown, and that his income comes from playback, live shows and television appearances.[1] A Bigg Boss fee would be part of that income in 2026, but contestant fees are not disclosed by the show and no figure has been reported.
The exact date of the divorce from his first wife has never been published. Anandabazar confirms that a divorce took place and News18 Bangla places it in 2023, but no outlet gives the month, which leaves the gap between the divorce and the second wedding on 9 March 2023 unknown.[2][5][6]
The date of his son's birth is reported by one outlet only. News18 Bangla gives February 2024 and Sangbad Pratidin refers to the child without a date, so the month rests on a single Bengali report.[4][5] The child's name has not been published.
Finally, the exact list of his film credits cannot be verified from a single catalogue. Bengali film music is not consolidated in one database, and his songs appear across soundtracks, albums and independent videos. The titles named on this page are the ones carried by the sources, not a complete discography.[1][3]
